Meet Jose A. Loayza, Founder and Principal Attorney
Jose A. Loayza is a seasoned attorney and the owner and principal of The Law Offices of Jose A. Loayza in Salt Lake City, Utah, a practice he has led since 2001. He is a general litigator with extensive experience in civil, criminal, and administrative matters, representing clients in workers’ compensation, immigration, personal injury, family law, bankruptcy, contract disputes, and criminal defense cases.
A native of Peru, Mr. Loayza immigrated to the United States in 1989 to pursue higher education. He earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in 1996. He previously obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University in 1993, majoring in Philosophy and Zoology with a minor in Chemistry. Before coming to the United States, he studied medicine at San Marcos University and Cayetano Heredia University in Lima, Peru, from 1983 to 1989.
Prior to establishing his own firm, Mr. Loayza worked as a Law Clerk with The Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Firm in New York City (2000–2001), focusing primarily on personal injury litigation, and as an Associate Attorney with Borland & Borland, Attorneys at Law in Midland, Texas (1996–1999), where his practice also centered on personal injury matters.
In addition to his legal career, Mr. Loayza has demonstrated a strong commitment to community service. He served as the Founding President of the Utah Latin-American Chamber of Commerce from 2006 to 2008 and founded the Peruvian Communitarian Movement in Lima, Peru, in 2003.
Mr. Loayza is married, the father of twin children, and enjoys playing soccer and studying world religions.
